When it comes to accommodations in the Rwenzori Mountains, it’s important to note that the range is located within Uganda, and the most popular entry point is the Rwenzori Mountains National Park though the mountain is also located in Virunga national park of Congo. While the options for accommodations might be limited compared to other tourist destinations, there are still some recommended places to stay during your Rwenzori trek. Here are a few options:
Ruboni Community Camp
Located near the park’s gate, Ruboni Community Camp offers budget-friendly accommodations in the form of basic cottages and tents. The camp is one of the most selling accommodations in the Rwenzori mountains with well-furnished rooms with the natural finishing and hot showers. The beds are fitted well wit mosquito nets and all rooms have hydroelectric power where you can charge your gadgets. It’s a community-owned camp that supports local initiatives and provides an opportunity to engage with the local Bakonzo people.
Rwenzori Turaco View Camp
Run by the community, Rwenzori Turaco View Camp is also an accommodation based in Rwenzori mountains national park. The camp was named after the regional and beautiful turaco bird found in the rainforests of the park.
Situated in the hills of Mubuku valley, Rwenzori Turaco view camp gives you the natural feelings of the environment and a stable night as tents are set on the wooden floors. The camp comprises of different amenities like hot water, soap, shampoos, television and others.
Sandton Hotel Kasese
Located in western region of Uganda, Sandton hotel is among the best accommodations in Kasese providing quality services to both local and international tourists. The hotel has about 60 rooms which are both comfortable and clean with air conditioners, instant water heaters, satellite colored TVs, quick internet and others.
Rwenzori Trekking Services (RTS) Huts
These are basic mountain huts located at different stages along the popular Central Circuit Trail. They offer shelter and rudimentary facilities, including bunk beds and shared toilets. RTS Huts are the most common option for trekkers who embark on multi-day hikes in the Rwenzori Mountains.
